Welcome to AlbuquerqueIsotopes.com

What is an isotope?
An isotope is one of two or more atoms whose nuclei have the same number of protons, but different numbers of neutrons. Huh? Yeah, that's what I said.

Let's try that again. Isotopes are atoms of a single chemical element that each have different masses. They are named according to their masses. Hmmm, Better yet, let's just move on.

While the actual name is more technical than many care to stand around long enough to hear, it first originated from a 2001 episode of "The Simpsons."

Isotopes Park

Although the representatives state that it wasn't taken from the show, either way, it sure has enlightened us to a new and exciting team.

The Isotopes are Albuquerque's newest baseball team. Replacing the Dukes after their 2000 season, they quickly received a warm welcome. In 2003, the doors of a new $25 million stadium opened, where from their first game on April 11, 2003, attracted over a half a million fans in a single season.

With isotopes off to a good start, we say farewell to the Dukes, because from the looks of things, it appears the Isotopes are here to stay.

PLAY BALL!
